Let us be a Christian nation

Are you a closet Christian? You ask what is a closet Christian. We all know many of them, I hate to admit I have been partially one for many years. It is a person who enjoys and is happy when you are around genuine Christians and know you can trust them and they live on a higher moral plane than a non-Christian.

We are the greatest nation that has ever been created, we are not perfect, we have made mistakes. However, God selected a group of strong Christians to bring together and set up a Christian nation built on godly principles, created a constitution all built on love, our God is love, the one and only God. All other religions I have known about have been built on hate, power and selfishness. If you read this and do not know His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, I invite you to invite Him into your life, he died for you.

 If someone would ask you what percent of the United States claims to be Christian, most people would probably guess 20 percent or less. According to the latest opinion polls, there are 84 percent who claim to be Christian. They enjoy the benefits of claiming to be a Christian, but sometimes live a different lifestyle.

A definition of a liar is a person who sends an impression that something is true, while at the same time they know it is untrue, a falsehood. This is true at all levels and time, particularly among politicians. You know it is not true, couldn’t be true, but by misleading they might lie to say someone said or I heard someone else say, although they really know at the time the statement is untrue, they are a liar.

The latest polls reveal that only 3 percent of our population is Muslim, but they are being given favor, while Christians are being denied their rights and treated as criminals.

Here are some facts about the politicians now representing us, the ones who know a majority of the citizens of our country, the greatest country in the world God ever blessed. Now if you haven’t heard, our country is being destroyed by the same group who just voted themselves a pay raise, while many citizens are trying to live on food stamps because their jobs have been taken away. Congress does not want to acknowledge their greed, ignorance and mistakes while they have a full knowledge of the need of the people they are supposed to represent.

Out of 535 members of the U.S. Congress, those who should be role models for all of us, who make the laws designed for keeping the rest of us in line, are a disgrace to any government by having the following record: 36 have been accused of spousal abuse; seven have been arrested for fraud; 19 have been accused of writing bad checks; 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least two businesses; 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit; 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges; eight have been arrested for shoplifting; 21 currently are defendants in lawsuits and 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year. In fairness to the accused, my information was taken from my e-mails, which I consider a reliable source. The record could be better or worse.

It is up to the citizens of our country to educate themselves to know the candidates for whom they are voting and their background. Many are the same people who flood our mailboxes with request for money to get elected or re-elected. They are looking for money from all 50 states and then perhaps from overseas. Instead of giving them money, let’s clean house and also get a law passed setting two terms as the maximum length of time in Congress. Also, they should use the same health plan they are trying to lay on us.

Let us keep up the drive to return to being, and known as, a Christian nation.
