I fear the Democrats have lost their way in the fog of war leaders at the top do not understand what is occurring in the heat of the battle.
Please stop this madness. The health care bills you are supporting are the worst pieces of legislation to have ever been produced. Pause and think about what you are doing. It started out with the goal of insuring the poor who cannot insure themselves. That has all but been abandoned and now your party is meddling in the private matters of citizens who have their own health insurance.
Yes, health insurance is expensive. Yes, patients want the best and they want it now. Yes, the cost curve has to be slowed down, and yes, we want to care for those who can not care for themselves. However, we don’t want the government to solve our problems, especially when it gets personal, like our heath care. We want to solve our own problems and take care of our own families.
Face it, the government track record when it comes to money matters is abysmal. If you exclude the transfers from Social Security the federal government has only had a balanced budget once in the last 50 years. Social Security, Medicaid, Amtrak, Postal System, General Motors, Chrysler, all financially insolvent. We don’t have to debate this issue any further.
The Public Plan Option is especially a bad idea and bad policy. Medicare is a solid example. You know that Medicare loses $9 million per hour. You know that it is a lifesaver for the elderly. You know that it is financially unsustainable. You know that it needs to be reformed. But you support modeling the private insurance market into the same Public Plan death spiral model.
Why are you doing this? You know the facts and you know better. The most disturbing part of all this is that you know the outcome already. There is no difference between high insurance premiums and high taxes. Money is money. And we as a country no longer have any thanks to both parties reckless spending, but especially the Democrats passing the stimulus spending bill.
There is plenty of blame to go around. Employers have been too ambivalent about the cost of health care. We continue to purchase it and follow the commercial insurance companies’ lead on design and products. You can help stop the movement of the current health care bills through Congress.
