Sugar Creek, MO —

You can see it every day in every community in Eastern Jackson County big enough for a stoplight.

There are drivers who push it when green flashes to yellow and they have to make a quick judgment call. Then there are drivers who push even when they know the light will be red long before they clear the intersection. And then there are the drivers who hit the intersection after yellow has done to red.

Drivers in those second and third groups aren’t just bad drivers – they’re dangerous.

Sugar Creek this week has taken part in National Stop on Red Week, placing greater emphasis on this basic rule of the road. The obvious question: What about the other 51 weeks of the year?

Thumbs down to dangerous drivers. Thumbs up for Sugar Creek’s efforts.
