Blue Springs, MO —

The city of Blue Springs gets kudos for sending out a notice to residents with some common-sense advice on fireworks.

To many people, it just wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without fireworks – whether or not they are legal where they live. Independence, for example, has a ban that is neither heeded nor enforced.

Blue Springs at least offered some guidelines. The main piece is that if you buy it in Blue Springs, you can set it off there – safely, please. That means no bottle rockets, the source of too many injuries and too much damage every year.
