Independence, MO —
Missouri could soon join the states that put flags at half-staff when a soldier, sailor, airman or Marine dies in the line of duty.
The General Assembly has passed a bill to that effect, and it awaits Gov. Matt Blunt’s signature.
Close to 100 Missourians have died in the current wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and of course American service personnel stand watch around the world, from Kosovo to Korea. When an American dies in defense of our country, friends and family and community pause to grieve. A flag at half-staff might remind of us to pause and reflect.
