More school building games

Just when you thought it was safe ...

Kansas City School District officials decided Tuesday to continue their pathetic games to try to thwart the will of the people of western Independence.

Tuesday was the day seven schools were transferred into the Independence School District. Classes start in a little more than six weeks, and the buildings need work, but at various times Tuesday Kansas City officials locked Independence officials out of the buildings or said they could come in – but not do anything.

How much longer is this going to go on? The voters spoke loudly and clearly last fall, a state arbitration board has ruled on the value of the buildings – largely to the Kansas City district’s benefit – and the official change has taken place. Independence officials want to get ready to educate kids. They don’t need juvenile distractions.
