The city is working diligently on the road improvements planned for Woods Chapel Road, and the work is progressing even though it is not yet visible.

Betty Snapp and Barbara Fears are the best bucket fillers I know. Fears and my mom, who co-founded Sunshine Center School in 1975, have always packed their calendars with opportunities to share their blessings.

I would like to point out that Rep. Cleaver not only did not show courage in his vote for the health care bill on Saturday, he has not in my opinion ever shown courage in any of his votes on major legislation.

Sometimes one’s mouth sprints into the unknown darkness of life before the mind even considers leaving the starting block. When the mind catches up and observes the foolishness invariably caused by speaking without thinking, there’s often not a rock large enough to hide the embarrassment.

Growing up in the heart of Kansas City, I’ve known all my life the fullness of the four seasons and what they can offer in the heartland!

The latter half of this year has been a difficult time for me. In the space of a few months I have lost, in addition to my grandmother, several elderly friends who were dear to me.

Our old ways can reach up and drag us back to the past.
