OCT. 10: Nature Photography Workshop: Fall Session – 1-3 p.m. for adults ages 18 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Learn nature photography from award-winning photographer Pat Whalen from the Missouri Department of Conservation. Pat teaches the Nature’s Palette Classroom at Anita B. Venture off the beaten path in search of less known scenic areas within Burr Oak Woods. OCT. 13, 14 & 15: Missouri Department of Conservation Hunter Education Class – 6-9:30 p.m. each day at Fort Osage Vo-Tech Center in Independence. Al Diman is the instructor. OCT. 14: Birding: Birding Watcher – 8:30-10 a.m. for adults ages 18 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Identify the last of the fall migrants passing through plus the local bird residents here at Burr Oak Woods. Missouri Master Naturalist Sara Scheil will lead this group on a favorite trail. OCT. 29: Dutch-Oven Cooking – 5:30-7:30 p.m. for adults ages 18 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Learn how to select, season, clean, prepare food, regulate temperature and properly clean a Dutch oven. A recipe or two will be available as well while preparing an entire Dutch oven meal.
