Thanks for making our fundraiser a success

Animals Best Friends would like to thank everyone who donated items for our garage sale. We also want to thank everyone who came to the sale and all the very hard working volunteers who worked day after day taking items in, marking them, packing them up, setting up for the sale, and cleaning up after the sale. We really appreciate all of you!

Animals Best Friends has several cats that were taken in as kittens three years ago. They are all wonderful cats who are sweet, friendly, and ready for homes. One particular cat that most of the ABF caregivers adore is Ashes.

Ashes is a 3-year-old, brown and white tabby cat. He makes his presence known as soon as you walk into the room. Ashes is very affectionate and assertive. He will come up to you, climb on your shoulders, and rub his head into your neck. Ashes actually likes to play with dogs. He has met and played with several of our ABF dogs. Ashes has loads of personality and would be a wonderful companion for a human.

Although it is kitten season again, the adult cats should not be ignored, adult cats are cool. They have a playful aspect of their personality, but are more interested in spending time with their guardian or keeping an eye on the neighbors from a window sill or the back of the couch. They are very lovable and fun without the hyperactivity of a kitten.

If you are literally looking for a “cool” cat, Ashes could be it. Please go to our website at www.animalsbestfriends.org and complete an application. Applications are reviewed within 10 days. ABF does home visits and two week trials and we always take the animal back if it doesn’t work out.

ABF volunteers will be holding Adopt-A-Pet from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with Independence Animal Shelter dogs at the Independence PetSmart, 39th Street and Missouri 291.
