Civil War 150th - Re-enactors

On August 11, 1862, 150 years ago, the Confederates attacked the Jail, headquarters of the Federals and retreated three blocks west on the Square. This First Battle of Independence was re-enacted at today’s 1859 Jail and Museum on Main Street. Other events were held at the National Frontier Trails Museum.
