People love to shop, and they can do so in Blue Springs.
The increasingly popular Adams Dairy Landing retail complex, located in the east of the city along Adams Dairy Parkway and Coronado Drive, is quickly becoming a one-stop shopping destination.
Unlike many large-scale shopping districts, the landing has managed to weather the global economy. A large majority of original tenants followed through with commercial commitments, and those that withdrew were quickly replaced, according to city officials.
Years in the planning stages, the complex boasts several popular stores, including Target, Kohl’s, Petco, Gordman’s and, most recently, Ulta Beauty.
For dining, there’s Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A, and Chipotle, with others scheduled to open this year and into the future.
Even with the economy in dire straits, the city has worked hard in sustaining growth at the complex. During lagging times, the center averaged three openings per year, with more opening soon, including Ross Dress for Less and TJ Maxx.
Below are listed opening periods:
• Ross Dress for Less and T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods will locate in the building that was originally going to be a Lowe’s hardware store. Expected opening date is late summer 2012.
• Charming Charlie, a fashion accessory store: Spring 2012.
• Rue 21: Fall 2012.
Spokespersons for RED Development have said they are pleased with the progress at the complex located along Adams Dairy Parkway. Other possible tenants at the complex include a toy store, sporting goods stores and other stores.
The “tower” building along Coronado Drive will include America’s Best Contacts and Eyeglasses, GNC, Heartland Dental Care and other tenants still unknown at this point.
In January, RED announced that four art selections that were on display from April to September will remain at the center and be relocated.
Placing art throughout the retail center was one of the ways the city and the developer wanted to differentiate the area from other shopping centers.
