Scholastic honors: Member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society; senior class secretary; Kansas City Star Scholar Athlete; Missouri Girls State; November 2007 Rotary Student of the Month; 2008 Optimist Student of the Year and House 5 Hall of Fame.
High school and community activities: Member of the varsity volleyball and varsity basketball teams and member of the Spanish Club.

1 To what do you attribute your academic success?
I believe my academic success comes from my teachers making school interesting and my family encouraging me to do my best.

2 Who was your biggest influence on your studies?
I feel that I am the biggest influence on my studies because I hold myself to higher expectations than anyone else. I pushed myself to work hard by setting very high, attainable goals.

3 What college do you plan to attend and why?
I plan to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City to study elementary education and psychology. I chose UMKC because when I visited, it felt like home, and the students and teachers were very nice and made me feel welcome.

4 What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
In 10 years, I see myself helping underprivileged and abused children. I’d love to work in a shelter for abused women and children someday.

5 What will you remember most about your high school years?
My memories from high school will be of the many friendships I made. I’ll also remember the hours of time I dedicated to sports.
