Scholastic honors: Member of the National Honor Society; received the George Washington Carver Award and the Gold President’s Education Award; 2008 Scholar Athlete of the Year; recipient of the United States Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award and the NAIA Champions of Charter Award; named to the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school; 4.39 GPA; Independence Rotary Club Student of the Month and MHSVCA Academic All-state honoree.
High school and community activities: Member of the volleyball team and the track and field team for four years; member of the Spanish Club and the Spirit Club; participated in the Independence LEAD program and Smoke Busters; blood donor and played club volleyball.
1 To what do you attribute your academic success?
Hard work, dedication, amazing teachers, coaches and family as well as a little bit of luck.
2 Who was your biggest influence on your studies?
My parents. They’ve taught me well and have given me the tools I needed to be successful.
3 What college do you plan to attend and why?
Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. I plan to study psychology and play on the volleyball team.
4 What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
Being out in the world and trying to make a difference while enjoying my life.
5 What will you remember most about your high school years?
The friendships I developed with classmates, team members and the faculty.
