Scholastic honors: Named to Who’s Who Among American High School Students; member of the National Honor Society; U.S. Army Academic recognition; received the George Washington Carver Award; named to the National Society of High School Scholars and received the 2008 Superintendent of the Year Scholarship.
High school and community activities: Eagle Scout and center on the varsity football team.
1 To what do you attribute your academic success? My parents and teachers motivated me quite a lot, along with fellow students. It took a lot of effort to achieve salutatorian, and I’m glad I had people to help.
2 Who was your biggest influence on your studies? My biggest influence on my studies was my chemistry teacher, Mrs. Ross. She made chemistry fun and interesting, which is why I want to pursue a career in chemical engineering.
3 What college do you plan to attend and why? I will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia in the fall. It has a very good school and is not too far away from home, so I can come back sometimes.
4 What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now? In 10 years, I see myself as a chemical engineer for a large corporation. In my spare time, I will be cruising around on my Hayabusa.
5 What will you remember most about your high school years? The most memorable thing in high school, for me, is the football games. I will always remember my teammates and the tough practices.
