Shutting Down the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum
Glenn Enloe
They’re shuttin’ down the museum
‘Cause not enough came to see ‘em.
I do remember as a boy
How I loved Hoppy, Gene and Roy
And all those westerns black and white
That made it clear twixt wrong and right.
But those good times, they all did change
To Lady GaGa from Glen Strange—
But western movies don’t grow old
And we still live the cowboy code.
They say old cowboys never die—
The museum’s rent was just too high
And they’ll close come this December
‘Cause there’s too few that remember.
But from those cowboys we won’t part—
They’ll always be deep in our heart.
Yes, our lives were like Roy and Dale’s
As now we all sing “Happy Trails.”
