The spirit of Christmas giving came early on July 20 when Independence Manor held their first block party to raise money for their residents’ Christmas fund. The hot summer air was filled with great country music from the ‘Rivergard Band.’ Children of all ages enjoyed all the carnival activities the Manor had to offer. The festivities included a moonwalk, dunk tank, pie throw, duck pond, balloon pop, snow cones, pop corn, hot dogs cold drinks and other carnival games. The carnival was fully sponsored by donations from many individuals and community sponsors. The Independence Manor would like to thank Crossroads Hospice, The Independence SDA Church, K.C. Torq, Medline, Care Alternatives Hospice, Good Shepard Hospice, Gateway Proclean, Earthgrains Bread Co. and the many individuals who donated items and their time to make this event such a success. Enough money was raised to help give the residents a Christmas they will never forget.
