Tuesday, October 20  proved to be a great day for The Salvation Army at the Rotary Club of Independence weekly meeting.

The Rotary Club presented a $5,000 grant to Independence Salvation Army Corps Officer Captain Butch Frost. The grant will fund emergency assistance, food, toys and gifts for people in need in Independence through the upcoming Christmas season.

“The generosity of the Rotary Club of Independence is overwhelming to me,” said Capt. Frost.  “They are a very dynamic group of business men and women, focused on taking care of people in need in the Independence community.  The Salvation Army is humbled by this club’s continued support of our mission to “do the most good” in our community.”

Club President Hap Graff (Blue Ridge Bank & Trust) announced that the Rotary Club of Independence will be making four more presentations to local community organizations in the coming weeks.

The Rotary Club of Independence meets each week on Tuesdays at the Drumm Farm Golf Clubhouse. Club meeting times are 4:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month and at noon the remaining Tuesdays.
