Several area churches have vacation Bible school coming up soon:
At Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs, it will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 13 through 17.
The week will be, “Discovery Canyon, Explore the Wonders of the World.” It is open to all children ages 3 through the fifth grade.

Calvary Baptist Church in Blue Springs will hold the “Boomerang Express” from 9 a.m. to noon July 20 through 24 at the church, 900 N.W. 22nd St.
Kids will wind their way through Australia, discovering the vastness of God’s love, and they will learn that no matter where they go or what they do in life, it all comes back to Jesus.
VBS is for all children 5 years old through the 6th grade.

The Boomerang Express also is making a stop at First Baptist Church of Buckner, which is holding vacation Bible school from 8:45 a.m. to noon July 27-31 at the church, 131 S. Hudson.
Kids ages kindergarten through sixth grade will hop on board the Boomerang Express and learn about having a relationship with Jesus through Bible stories, crafts, motivating music and games.
A pre-registration activity party is planned for July 25, There will be a sand dig, boomerang games, petting zoo and lots more fun.
In addition, the youth of the church will hold a free community car wash from 10 a.m. to noon July 25, as a thank you” to the community.

New Summit Church, 1800 N.E. Independence Ave., Lee’s Summit, will hold VBS July 26 through 30, with dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Three-year-olds through those entering the sixth grade are invited to the “SonRock Kids Camp.”

Event well attended
Approximately 65 to 70 children attended each of five consecutive evenings of the vacation Bible school conducted by five Independence churches at Westminster Hall, 417 W. Lexington Ave., Independence.
Children from age 3 through eighth grade attended the sessions that ran from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 21-25. The theme was Crocodile Dock, as children learned more about God’s love through Bible adventures, songs, games and crafts.
The churches participating were First Presbyterian, First Christian, First United Methodist, Trinity Presbyterian and St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.
Diane Bergsten, who coordinated the event, said there were about 40 youth and adult volunteers each evening.
