The Rev. Mitchell P. Jarvis is the new senior pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Independence, 400 W. Maple Ave.
On July 1, he succeeded the Rev. Alan D. Pruitt, who retired. Rev. Jarvis has been the associate pastor at the Ashland United Methodist Church in St. Joseph for the last five years. He and his wife, Sarah, have two children.
