The Blue Springs boys basketball team narrowly missed out on a Suburban Big Seven conference title.

But the Wildcats were awarded with three first-team picks to tie league champion Lee’s Summit West for top honors in the all-conference squads picked by the coaches.

Blue Springs’ “Big Three” of senior guard Tyree King, junior guard RJ Lawrence and junior forward Daniel Parker Jr. were named to the first team after the Wildcats finished 9-3 in Big Seven play to finish one game behind West (10-2).

The Titans, whose only two conference losses were to Blue Springs, also put three on the first team with senior Elijah Childs and juniors Mario Goodrich and Christian Bishop. Childs was chosen the Big Seven Player of the Year and West’s Michael Schieber was named Coach of the Year.

Park Hill also had three on the first team with seniors Dru Smith and Chester Graves and junior Ronnie Bell.

Blue Springs South and Lee’s Summit North each had one selection. Senior guard Camron Roustic represented the Jaguars, while sophomore guard Javaunte Hawkins was selected for the Broncos.

Raymore-Peculiar junior Wesley McCullough was also named to the first team.

Lee’s Summit North had five on the honorable mention squad, including Cameron Hairston, Elijah Farr, Emil Spriggs, Jordan Bynum and Logan Jenkins. Blue Springs South’s Caden Mauck also earned honorable mention honors.

Others named honorable mention were: Lee’s Summit West’s CJ May and Phillip Brooks; Lee’s Summit’s Somaj Brewer and Delshaun Presley; Park Hill’s Roman Wilson; and Ray-Pec’s Key’Vaughn Shockley.

GIRLS: Undefeated Suburban Big Seven champion Lee’s Summit North dominated the girls all-conference team.

The league’s coaches only picked one team, with the Broncos landing three of the 10 selected. Sisters Aaliyah and Aiyana Johnson, 6-2 senior and junior forwards, were chosen along with sophomore guard Anija Frazier for North.

Blue Springs South, Lee’s Summit and Park Hill each had two selected. Senior point guard Tiffany Davenport and senior forward Naia Tauai were chosen for the Jaguars.

Senior guard Page Elston and junior guard Claire Lock represent Lee’s Summit, while senior guard Alex Berger and senior center Morgen Smith of Park Hill were also honored.

Lee’s Summit West sophomore point guard Sydnee Kemp rounded out the team.
