The Grain Valley baseball game earned a 7-2 win over a baseball powerhouse in Columbia Rock Bridge but later fell to Cape Girardeau Notre Dame 17-1 in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday.
Chaise McCord picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles (1-1) against the Bruins. Caleb Walker had two hits and two RBIs and Kyle Clark had a hit and two RBIs to help boost Grain Valley to the victory.
In the game against Notre Dame, the Eagles couldn’t muster much offense. Austin Foster got the loss on the mound and Garrett Morrow got a hit for the Eagles.
TRUMAN DROPS A PAIR: The Patriots lost a pair of games at Columbia Hickman Saturday.
The Patriots fell 20-0 against the host Kewpies and Alex Khan got the loss on the mound while the offense mustered just one hit by Josh Patrick. In the second game against Willard, the Truman offense picked up a bit, but still fell 11-4 to the Tigers.
Gehrig Bristow picked up the loss for Truman. Patrick was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
HARRISONVILLE 11, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 0: The Bears were only able to muster two hits in their season-opening loss to Harrisonville Monday in the Raytown Schools Tournament.
Parker LaRoche and Damon Montes each got a hit for Chrisman (0-1). LaRoche was the losing pitcher.
