The Fort Osage baseball team kept their games close but dropped a pair of games Tuesday and Monday.

Monday Tuesday, the team fell 4-2 to non-conference foe Liberty North. Logan Phillips got the loss despite only yielding one unearned run (three total) in four innings and striking out two.

Sage Heitman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Bryce Dye had a hit and an RBI for the Indians.

Liberty scored three in the second inning and never looked back. Fort fell to 6-8 overall.

On Monday, the Indians struggled offensively again in a 6-2 loss to Park Hill. The Trojans scored four in the third to pull ahead for good. Fort Osage had one run in the first and fifth.

Von Young was 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored for the Indians. Nick Dye was the losing pitcher in relief.

SUMMIT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 7, BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 4: The Jaguars had a tie game in the fifth but the Eagles blew the game open with four runs in the top of the seventh to down South 7-4 in pool play of the Eastern Jackson County Tournament Tuesday.

John Brady pitched 5 ⅔ innings for South (7-9) and gave up just three earned runs. Allante Hall, Mark Walker and John Herrman each had two hits for the Jags.

"We were too passive at the plate early on in the game,” South coach Ben Baier said. “Their pitcher did a great job of pounding the zone early and often, and we got ourselves in too many two-strike counts.”

ST. JOSEPH CENTRAL 9, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 7: The Bears allowed six runs in the fifth inning and were not able to recover in a loss to the Indians Monday in the Lee’s Summit North Tournament.

Will Fisher was 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Chrisman (4-8); and Jordan Mabie, Parker LaRoche, Damon Montes and Sam Wimberly each had two hits. Parker LaRoche tossed 4 ⅓ innings and gave up five earned runs for the loss.

LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 20, TRUMAN 4: The Broncos improved to 9-10 on the season following a win over the Patriots in the Lee’s Summit North Tournament Tuesday. Truman fell to 3-12.
