The Grain Valley girls soccer team had little trouble getting to the Class 3 District 15 finals.

Grain Valley posted a 10-0 mercy-rule win over Kansas City East in the semifinals Tuesday at Van Horn High School. Host Van Horn, though, fell 1-0 to Raytown South in the other semifinal.

Rylan Childers scored a hat trick and Avery Brady added two goals and two assists to lead Grain Valley to the rout of East. The game ended just three minutes into the second half on the 10-goal mercy rule.

“I thought we were very unselfish and spread the ball around well,” Grain Valley coach Tyler Nichol said.

Kendra Sibert scored her first varsity goal, and Maddie Knust, Kailey Boyer, Haley Hunter and Kailyn Duett added a goal apiece. Marissa Schmitt totaled three assists, Kailey Larson had two and Childers, Boyer and Hunter each added one.

Raegan Beeding recorded the shutout in goal.

The Eagles, who improved to 20-4, will meet Raytown South in the championship game at 6 p.m. Thursday at Van Horn.

Van Horn finished 10-13 following the loss to Raytown South.

“I'm proud of how much they wanted it,” Van Horn coach Matt Tracy said. “All of our weapons were injured by the end of the season, so we had an uphill battle, but they stuck with it. Kayla Sua, my captain center back, took a big step forward this year. I have a crop of freshmen that are committed, so we're looking forward to next year.”

ST. TERESA’S 10, TRUMAN 0: Defending state champion St. Teresa’s Academy proved to be too much for Truman in the Class 4 District 14 championship Tuesday.

The Patriots, who edged rival William Chrisman 1-0 in double overtime Monday, finished 9-10 overall.

“I thought our season went pretty well. We finished off at 9-10 and had some big wins on the year,” Truman coach Manny Tovar said. “I thought we had some up and downs but any team goes through them. I told the girls that we didn't have any easy games this year and I think we can do even better next year.”

BOONVILLE 4, OAK GROVE 0: Oak Grove finished the season at 14-10 overall with a loss to Boonville in the Class 2 District 11 semifinals Tuesday at Pleasant Hill High School.
