The Blue Springs South softball team answered every Lee’s Summit North run early with two runs of its own.
The Jaguars then tacked on five more for a 9-2 Suburban Big Seven home victory Tuesday.
The Broncos scored a two-out run in the top of the second and third innings only to be answered by the Jaguars each time. Haley Woolf and Addie Lightner provided the damage for South in both innings.
Woolf singled to lead off the second and Lightner slugged a two-run homer for a 2-1 lead.
After the Broncos tied it 2-2 in the second, Woolf and Lightner answered in the bottom half with RBI singles to put the Jaguars ahead for good at 4-2.
Kailee Odegard slugged a two-out, two-run double, and Woolf followed with a two-run single in the fourth to help the Jaguars pull away. Aubrie Munoz added an RBI single in the fifth in support of winning pitcher Easton Seib, who allowed five hits and no walks while striking out three.
Woolf finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs while Lightner was 2-for-4 with the homer and three RBIs as South improved to 9-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
