Autumn Bicknell homered and Malia Gutierrez was 2-for-4 with a triple as host Grain Valley posted a 6-3 Missouri River Valley Conference West softball win over the Excelsior Springs Tigers Tuesday.

PARK HILL SOUTH 5, TRUMAN 4: Errors led to Truman's undoing Tuesday as it fell in close one to Suburban Big Six rival Park Hill South.
A pair of errors to start the fifth inning led to a four-run frame for South, who scored its only run before that on a Patriot error.
Truman made it 5-4 with a four-run sixth inning, but couldn’t tie the game in the seventh.
“At this point, untimely errors have been been the biggest bane of two of (our) losses,” Truman coach Dan Harper said. “Kara Amos threw another fantastic game in the circle.”
Myel White went 2-for-3, including her fifth home run of the season, and Melanie Johnson had a two-out RBI double for Truman.
LIBERTY 11, FORT OSAGE 10: Host Liberty scored a run in the bottom of the seventh as Fort Osage dropped a seesaw battle with host Liberty Tuesday.
The Indians led 4-0 after scoring three runs in the top of the second but Liberty answered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning. Fort Osage scored four in the fourth for an 8-7 lead but the Blue Jays scored two in the bottom half for a 9-8 lead.
Fort Osage (2-7) scored single runs in the fifth and sixth for a 10-9 lead but Liberty tied it in the bottom of the sixth and won it in the seventh.
“This was a tough loss,” Indians coach Kelly Sullivan said. “We played Liberty a lot better than we did the first time around. However, we have to find a way to eliminate the one bad inning.”
