The Lee’s Summit boys soccer team two goals in the first half and were able to hang on during a 2-1 win over Suburban Big Seven rival Lee’s Summit West Wednesday.

Just under 5 minutes into the match, Joseph Thomas took a throw in and pass the ball to Parker Allen. He beat his defender and fired a shot past the Titan goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead for the Broncos (8-3, 4-1 Big Seven).

Later in the half, Mitch Petersen was able to knock the ball into the net after Kyle Rock hit a shot that was saved by the goalie for a two-goal edge.

West scored on a penalty kick in the second half to make it 2-1, which marked the final goal.

“The boys responded well, and we responded quickly,” North coach Ryan Kelley said of the West goal. “We started to get better possession and found space through the midfield and behind but we could not find the net. Our attacks were able to keep (the Titans) from getting many chances in the second half and allowed us to control the match through the finish.”

OAK GROVE 1, CENTER 0: The Panthers had 18 shots and made on of them count and that was enough a a non-conference win over the Yellowjackets Tuesday.

Jacob Lemon scored the lone goal for Oak Grove (8-4) in the 77th minute, in a game the team outshot center 18-6.
