The Blue Springs South softball team used its bats to cruise into the championship bracket of the UCM Mules Invitational.
The Jaguars pounded out 14 hits in a 15-0, three-inning drubbing of Clinton and then added another 14 in a 9-6 win over Holden in pool play Friday at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
The Jaguars erupted for eight runs with two outs in the second inning of the win over Clinton.
Nicole Curtis went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Haley Woolf (double, two RBIs) and Savannah Everhart (one RBI) were both 2-for-2. Kailee Odegard hit a bases-loaded double and finished with four RBIs. Abby Sciara was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs, and Addie Lightner was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Easton Seib allowed only one hit and struck out four for the win.
Against Holden, a small-class power, the Jaguars rallied from a 3-2 deficit after three innings for the win.
South took advantage of a Holden error to begin the fourth, and tied the game on a Madison Crosslin ground ball to score Savannah Everhart from third. Aubrie Munoz scored on a wild pitch to put the Jaguars ahead. Munoz later singled and scored along with Odegard on Woolf’s double.
Munoz, Crosslin, and Woolf all finished 3-for-4, while Crosslin and Woolf recorded two RBIs and Munoz had one. Lightner was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Odegard was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Sydney Righi scattered six runs on 12 hits, struck out four and stranded eight runners for the complete-game win.
The Jaguars (15-5) begin play in the championship bracket at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Knob Noster.

Bri Carter went 2-for-4 to lead the Eagles’ offense. Payton Walter suffered the loss.
