Kara Amos provided a powerful punch inside the circle and the plate in Truman’s game against Suburban Big Six rival Liberty North.
She drove in four of the team’s five runs and struck out seven in a 5-3 conference win over the Eagles Monday.
One of Amos’ hits was a three-run shot. Truman junior Chloe Armstrong belted her 14th home run of the season and Gracie Eckberg was 2-for-3 for the Patriots (20-4, 6-2).
WILLIAM CHRISMAN 7, NORTH KANSAS CITY 6: Sometimes all a team has to do is put it in play to win.
That’s what William Chrisman did in the bottom of the eighth inning when North Kansas City couldn't catch an infield pop up off the bat of Gracie Ussery, allowing Tawnie Griffin to score from second in Chrisman’s Suburban Middle Six victory Monday.
Adrianna Solary picked up the win as she pitched the final four innings. Ussery also had a three-run homer and a single, Caitlin Genty added a single and a double as did Ryan Herod, who hit the game-tying single in the bottom of the seventh. Griffin has three singles for the Bears (11-11, 4-3).
Northtown scored four runs in the top of the seventh to grab a 6-4 lead before Chrisman tied it with two in the seventh to send it to extra innings.
