The Blue Springs South boys soccer team didn’t waste the momentum of a win over crosstown rival Blue Springs.
After topping the Wildcats 3-0 Wednesday, the Jaguars blanked host Lee’s Summit West by the same score Thursday.
Dylan Shuker had a goal and an assist and goalkeeper Keavin Hart recorded his second straight shutout and sixth of the season as the Jaguars improved to 7-11 overall and 4-5 in the Suburban Big Seven.
“We came out strong after an emotional win yesterday at Blue Springs. The backs are playing really well and Keavin kept us in it with a couple big saves,” Jaguars coach Jon Grice said. “Our offense is back to full health and we were able to get behind them a few times. It was good to see us playing so well in our third game of the week.”
Shuker got the first goal off a corner kick from Brett Vaughn.
Joel Sterling made it 2-0 on an assist from Shuker and Bryce Millican sealed it with an unassisted goal.
OAK PARK 1, FORT OSAGE 0: Oak Park outscored visiting Fort Osage 4-2 in a penalty kick shootout to hand the Indians just their second loss of the season Thursday at Staley High School.
Colby McDowell and Jack Tupinio scored for Fort Osage in the shootout but it wasn’t enough to get past Oak Park after the teams were scoreless in regulation and overtime. It was the fifth shootout in the last seven games for Fort Osage, which dropped to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in the Suburban Middle Six.
STALEY 4, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 0: William Chrisman’s offensive woes continued with a Suburban Middle Six home loss to Staley Thursday.
Staley scored two goals in each half as the Bears dropped to 4-12 overall and 1-6 in the conference with their seventh straight loss, in which they have scored just two goals.
