The Truman softball team had little problem advance to the district semifinals.

Freshman Myel White threw a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 11 with just one walk as the Patriots routed Raytown South 10-0 in the Class 2 District 14 first-round game Thursday at St. Teresa’s Academy.

The Nos. 1-3 hitters for Truman combined to go 11-for-12 with seven RBIs and eight runs scored as the Patriots improved to 22-5.

Chloe Armstrong, who had four RBIs and a run scored, and Kara Amos, who had three RBIs and four runs, each went 4-for-4, while leadoff hitter Kennedy Rucker was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Third-seeded Truman meets No. 2 Blue Springs (20-7) at 4 p.m. today (weather permitting) at St. Teresa’s. The winner meets Lee’s Summit North or St. Teresa’s in the championship on Saturday.

COLUMBIA ROCK BRIDGE 11, GRAIN VALLEY 2: Grain Valley finished the season at 14-15 with a loss to host Columbia Rock Bridge in the first round of the Class 4 District 9 Tournament Thursday.

Payton Walter suffered the loss and she and reliever Abbie Nicas allowed eight walks and hit three batters. Bri Carter and Morgan Robinson doubled for Grain Valley.
