The Van Horn boys soccer team set up a winner-take-all match for the Crossroads Conference title.

Favian Valenzuela scored a hat trick as the Class 3 eighth-ranked Falcons improved to 22-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference with a 5-0 win over host Maranatha Christian Academy Thursday night.

The Falcons will face Kansas City Christian, also 4-0, for the conference crown on Tuesday.

“We played very well all night. I’m really pleased with their performance,” Van Horn coach Jesus Rodriguez said. “This was a crucial one for us.”

Julie Rios gave the Falcons an early 1-0 lead when he scored off a Luis Mejia assist in the third minute.

Valenzuela then scored all three of his goals in a 15-minute span starting in the 20th minute. Angel DeAvila assisted on the first two and Valenzuela stole the ball and scored an unassisted goal in the 35th minute.

Raynalso Jean-Pierre added a goal in the 77th minute when he knocked in a rebound off a Jason Smith shot.

FORT OSAGE 9, RUSKIN 0: Jake Lammering scored six goals as Fort Osage routed host Ruskin in a Suburban Middle Six match Thursday.

Jack Tupinio, Brandon Zwicke and Elijah Markley added a goal apiece as the Indians improved to 15-3 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

WILLIAM CHRISMAN 2, KEARNEY 1: The Bears improved to 6-12 overall after a non-conference victory against the Bulldogs Thursday.

Adam Hamilton and Cody Lien each scored a goal for Chrisman.
