Kansas City Comets coach Kim Roentved continues to solidify the team’s roster with the announcement of four players signing, including the return of defender Kevin Ten Eyck.

Joining Ten Eyck are rookies Troy McKerrell, Tim Kloster and Mirko Sandivari. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

“I like the fact that we have a good blend of veteran players and newcomers,” said Roentved, who returns for his second go-round as the Comets coach. “We’re going to give our fans plenty to support and cheer for.”

Ten Eyck was the Major Indoor Soccer League Rookie of the Year while playing for Wichita in the 2012-13 season. He joined the Comets in 2015-16, playing in all 20 games. He led the Comets and was seventh in the Major Arena Soccer League in blocks that season. Ten Eyck decided to sit out last season.

McKerrell comes to Kansas City from the Isle of Bute, Scotland. He played collegiately for Benedictine University in Atchison, Kan., and is also an assistant coach for FC Kansas City of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Tim Kloster and Mirko Sandivari are the latest players to come to the Comets via Park University. Kloster made 48 appearances for the Pirates. He scored 13 goals and added 19 assists. Seen as a playmaker for Park, Sandivari played in 45 games.

The Comets open their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena as they play host to cross-state rival St. Louis Ambush.
