The Oak Grove Panthers started their season in heartbreaking fashion.
The Panthers had a 5-point lead with 3 minutes to go but were unable to hang on in a 52-50 season-opening loss to Holden Monday.
Emily Heldenbrand led Oak Grove with 17 points and Lilly Weir added 14. The Panthers were down 29-19 at halftime and cut the lead to 37-35 going into the fourth.
“We didn’t play well in the first half,” Oak Grove coach Jared Broughton said. “We were 6 for 18 from the free throw line, and that hurt us a lot.”

They fell in a season-opening loss to the Bulldogs Monday. North went into halftime down 30-22 after only scoring seven points in the second quarter. It went into the fourth trailing 38-27 and made a charge in the fourth but it wasn’t enough
Aiyana Johnson led the Broncos with 20 points and Micaela Dickerson added 11.
