Kansas City Mavericks Eric Freschi had a career day for his team as he scored two goals and added three assists in a 7-4 win over the Wichita Thunder Saturday.

Freschi also had a plus-5 rating on the day. The win came after a 5-1 loss to Wichita the night before.

Kansas City fell behind 1-0 after the Thunder scored a shorthanded goal less than 2 minutes into the game, but it tied it when Greg Betzold scored off an assist from Freschi and Matt Robertson at the 9:34 mark in the first period. The team’s traded goals after that as Ralph Cuddemi scored for Wichita and Freshchi scored for the Mavericks (15-15-0-1) to go into a second period with a 2-2 tie.

Kansas City took the lead at the 7:21 mark in the second when Matt Robertson scored off an assist from Freshchi and Bryce Aneloski and Mark Cooper made it 4-2 with his goal at the 10:33 mark.

Dyson Stevenson of Wichita scored at the 14:06 mark to bring his team within one heading into the fourth period. Freshchi scored his second goal of the day and third of the season early in the third to put his team back up 5-3. Wichita scored 7 minutes later to pull within one, but Aneloski and Justin Breton later scored to give the Mavericks a three-goal win.

Kansas City will faced the Tulsa Oilers next at 7:05 Wednesday on the road.
