The Blue Springs South girls swimming team edged out Belton 472-471 to take the victory in a three-team meet Wednesday at the Blue Springs Family YMCA.

Liberty took third with 232 points.

“This was a really nice quick meet that was super close,” South coach Errich Oberlander said. “We barely edged out Liberty by one point. It seems like we always have some close meets against them. Belton has some tough girls as well. I like having a small quick meet over break to keep the girls motivated and focused.”

The 200 yard medley relay team of Gabby Fournier, Alyssa Stone, Anna Zweerink and Raegan Hecker won with a time of 2:01.66 and that same team minus Stone and plus McKenzie McLean won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:54.99.

Winners of individual events for the Jaguars were MacLean in the 200 free (2:06.54), Bailey Carter in the 1-meter diving event (259.45 points), Kirsten Markley in the 100 butterfly (1:02.02) and Hecker in the 100 free (56.53).
