The Blue Springs South wrestling team took sixth place in the North Kansas City Invitational Saturday.

Brady Childers (182) finished in second place with a 5-1 record, Jastin Robertson (113) was second at 5-1, Logan Hecker (120) was in second at 5-1, Braedon Burner (126) was in fourth at 4-2, Kody Kenig (132) was in seventh at 202 and Will Bullard was sixth at 4-2.

“I thought that are lightweights had a really good tournament this weekend,” South coach Doug Black said. “Putting three guys (Robertson, Hecker and Childers) in the finals was nice, but we need to do a better job of finishing shots against good competition, and that cost us in the final round. Going 1-5 in the final round kind of leaves a ugly taste in your mouth. Overall, we need to continue to make improvements on our mat wrestling as that is one of our weaker areas, and we have only six weeks until districts to get it corrected and that is when it will matter the most.”
