The Kansas City Comets will have a new face when they play host to the Harrisburg Heat Saturday night.

The Comets announced Friday that they had signed Adam James to the roster ahead of the weekend’s Major Arena Soccer League schedule. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

James joins the Comets after a successful college career at Benedictine University in Atchison, Kansas, where he earned second-team NAIA All-American honors in his recently completed senior season.

James led Benedictine with 16 goals, 38 points and 2.0 points per game in his senior season, and he finished with 27 goals in his career.

James will be available for head coach Kim Roentved when the Comets meet Harrisburg at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The Comets will honor those in the armed forces with Glad Military Appreciation Night. The team will wear patriotic-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit the Cars 4 Heroes charity.

WILLIAMS IS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Comets forward Kiel Williams was chosen as the Week 11 MASL Player of the Week, the first for a Comets player this season.

Williams was named earlier in the week to the MASL Team of the Week, making him eligible for the award. The MASL Player of the Week is determined by a combination of votes received from fans and MASL team personnel.

Williams scored five goals for the Comets, including what ended up being the game winner with a little over a minute left in regulation, to complete an 11-9 come-from-behind win over the host St. Louis Ambush last Saturday.
