The balanced scoring attack from the Grain Valley girls basketball team helped the Eagles improve to 10-7 overall and 2-1 in the Missouri River Valley Conference West following a 55-40 win over the Excelsior Springs Tigers Monday.
Kendra Sibert led Grain Valley with 13 points, Maddie Knust had 12, Kylie Bohmer scored 10 and Sydney Williams added nine.
“She had all those in the first quarter and her first half was good overall,” Grain Valley coach Randy Draper said of Sibert. “Kylie is doing a great job defensively. Sydney, our, freshmen has been playing really well, too, giving us points of the bench and playing really well on defense.”
LINCOLN PREP 66, BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 42: The Jaguars ran into a buzzsaw in the first round of the North Kansas City Invitational as they fell to the Blue Tigers on Monday.
Derrian Ford led South (7-10) with seven points.
“Lincoln is very good.” South coach Kory Lower said. “They led 25-6 in the first quarter and they were face guarding like crazy. We had a hard time breaking their pressure and they are big.”
