Truman State degrees

Several local students were among the many who earned degrees from Truman State University following the fall 2017 semester.

Truman conducted graduation ceremonies Dec. 16.

Students who graduated with honors will have that distinction noted by their names. Cum laude recognizes those who earned a grade point average between 3.50-3.74. Magna cum laude is for graduates with a grade point average between 3.75-3.89. Summa cum laude honors graduates with a grade point average above 3.9.

Master’s degree recipients will have that distinction noted by their names.

named to dean's list

at Dean College

Austin Moon of Blue Springs has earned a place on the dean's list for the fall 2017 semester at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts.

 

Independence student

earns degree from

Wilkes University

Wilkes University awarded 369 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees when it held its winter commencement ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 21 after the completion of the fall 2017 semester at the school in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Erin Lenheim of Independence received a master of science in nursing degree.

 

Two local students

earn academic honors

at McKendree U.

A pair of local students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.

Tylin Stephens of Blue Springs and Myles Hammonds of Lee’s Summit were named to the list. To be eligible, students had to earn a grade point average of 3.60 or higher for the fall 2017 semester.

 

Three local students

claim degrees from

Arkansas State U.

Three local students were included on the list of students who were awarded diplomas on the undergraduate and graduate levels from Arkansas State University during the 2017 fall commencement ceremony Dec. 9 in the First National Bank Arena on the campus in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Chancellor Kelly Damphousse conferred a record 1,474 diplomas during the ceremony.

• Simo Lei Lene Atagi, Blue Springs, Master of Science in Education, Educational Leadership.

• Julie Ann Stout, Lee’s Summit, Specialist in Education, Educational Leadership.

 

Independence student

earns degree from

Bismarck State College

Cory Nattier of Independence completed the coursework to graduate from Bismarck State College with an Associate in Applied Science in Electric Power Technology following the fall 2017 semester.

Fall graduates are eligible to walk at BSC's commencement ceremony on May 11, 2018, in Bismarck, N.D.

 

Area students named

to Harding dean’s list

Two local students were among the more than 1,400 Harding University students included on the dean's list for grades achieved during the fall 2017 semester at the school in Searcy, Arkansas.

Local students honored were Anessa Bridges, a junior French and history major from Independence, and Kara Herrmann, a senior Spanish and preprofessional health science major from Blue Springs.

The dean's list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

 

EJC students named

to CMU dean’s list

Many students from Eastern Jackson County were among the 944 named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri.

This academic achievement is awarded only to students who maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester, among other criteria, according to CMU Provost and Dean of the University Dr. Rita Gulstad.

named to Knox College

Fall 2017 dean's list

Ellis Staton of Independence has been named to the Knox College dean's list of distinguished students for the 2017 fall term at the school in Galesburg, Illinois.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale). Staton is a graduate of Truman High School.
