The Blue Springs South boys golf team got a strong performance from Miles Buttress, who shot a 39 to lead his team to a win in Wednesday’s four team-match with Blue Springs, Truman and Pembroke Hill.
South finished with a 164 and won the tiebreaker with Pembroke HIll, which also scored a 164, due to the fifth player’s best score. Blue Springs was third with a 186 and Truman was fourth with a 223 at par-36 Lakewood Oaks Golf Club.
For the Jaguars, Grant Wall shot a 40, Grant Williamson shot a 42, Ryan Dykhouse shot a 43 and Grant Buccero and Dylan Boyer both shot a 47.
Caden Jackley and Seth Wildoner led Blue Springs by each shooting a 46 and Ben Podjenski and Blake Rooney both shot 47.
For Truman, Damon Freers led the way with a 50, Jacob Freers shot a 53 and Carl Mendoza, Logan Freers and Ethan Bradshaw all shot a 60.
“It was a bitterly cold day to play golf,” Truman coach Joey Penner said. “I think our scores would be better if the weather would start cooperating. We need a nice run of good warm spring weather to green the courses up and give our young team some confidence.”
