The Grain Valley baseball team got off to a hot start in the West Central Missouri Tournament Thursday.
The Eagles rolled to a 14-3 victory over Columbia Rock Bridge and a 11-1 win over Sedalia Smith-Cotton at Liberty Park Stadium in Sedalia.
Against the Bruins, Grain Valley scored five runs in the first and never looked back. Tate Collum led the offense when he went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Josh Kilpatrick was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs, Cade Matlon was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Crichton Hill was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs and Mason Rogers was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Jacob Misiorowski picked up the win as he allowed three earned runs on five hits, walked four and struck out five.
Against the Tigers, Kilpatrick was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run and he was the winning pitcher. He tossed five innings and gave up just one run on three hits, walked three and struck out four.
Crichton Hill was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Mickey Simpson was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The Eagles (6-3) scored nine runs in the second to erase a 1-0 deficit and take control.
