The Lee’s Summit North girls soccer team, which finished second in the Class 4 state tournament last year, has hit a tough part of its schedule.
The Broncos, who lost several players off last year’s state runner-up played a competitive match with Suburban Big Seven foe Park Hill but fell 1-0 Wednesday night for their third straight loss.
“We are in a rough streak right now, but tonight we did a good job of getting back to playing better,” Broncos coach Ryan Kelley said. “We focused on trying to possess the ball more and to defend better as a team. Through most of the match we were successful at that. Through the first half we did a better job of playing to our feet and connecting passes to build up our attack. We were able to get the ball behind the Park Hill back line on some counters but we struggled on the final pass or touch.”
Park Hill star Allison Walls scored with about three minutes left to break the scoreless tie and drop North to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
