The match came down to the No. 6 singles match and Grain Valley’s Joel Florida came through with an 8-2 win, giving his team a 5-4 victory against Barstow Monday.

No. 2 singles player Addison Arnold won 8-4, No. 4 Dean Mobley won 8-4 and No. 5 Trent Tarrants won 8-4 to help the Eagles overcome a 2-1 deficit after doubles play.

The doubles team of Mobley and Hunter Hoagland bounced back from a 6-0 deficit to pull of a stunning 8-6 win.

“No. 3 doubles ended up being huge,” Grain Valley coach Randy Draper said after his team improved to 9-4 overall. “If those guys don’t pull that out that singles match doesn’t matter. It was a good win for our guys. It’s a good day any time you can beat Barstow.”

BLUE SPRINGS 9, GRANDVIEW 0: The host Wildcats had little trouble dispatching the Bulldogs in a blowout non-conference victory Monday.

In singles play, No. 1 player Luke David won 10-4, No. 1 Josh Gordon won 10-3, No. 3 Carson Rothove won 10-1, No. 4 Jorge Martinez won 10-3, No. Jay’Von McKinney won 10-1 and No. 6 Drew Rudolph won 10-1.

In doubles play, the No. 1 team of David and Daniel Gordon won 10-6, the no. 2 team of Rothove and Josh Gordon won 10-1 and No. 3 team of McKinney and Martinez won 10-1.
