The Blue Springs South boys tennis team continues to look strong and they had no trouble dispatching the Oak Park Northmen in an 8-1 win Thursday at Young Park.

In singles play, No. 2 player Wyatt Walker won 10-0, No. 3 Patterson Fallis won 10-4, No. 4 Spencer Jorgensen won 10-7, No. 5 Sammy Klosner won 10-4 and No. 6 Haider Cheema won 10-4.

In doubles play, Chase Klosener and Wyatt Walker won 8-2, Fallis and Jorgensen won 8-3 and Sammy Klosener and Justin Cooper won 8-4.

“The guys took charge and played aggressive tonight,” South coach Nathan Mooney said. “It's been missing a little bit this week and I was glad to see it. I saw the same thing in singles with the guys being more comfortable and being more aggressive with their shots.”

LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 5, PARK HILL SOUTH 4: The Broncos needed Logan Leslie to come up big and he did just that to clinch a close win against the Panthers Thursday.

His match at No. 2 doubles broke a 4-4 tie as he won 8-5 to clinch North’s victory. No. 5 singles player Lukas Parrish won 8-2 and No. 6 Drew Houk won 8-4.

In doubles, Matthew DeBacker and Leslie won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and the No. 3 team of Houk and Michael Welsh won 8-3.

“We’ve had a couple of close losses this week and it was great to finally win

that clutch match we needed to decide things,” North coach Stu Reece said. “We played well in doubles to give ourselves a chance to win the match, and then just had enough to earn the victory.”
