The Grain Valley boys tennis team clinched its third straight Missouri River Valley Conference West championship after a 9-0 win against Odessa Tuesday.
In singles play, No. 1 player Lindell Frye won 8-0, No. 2 Addison Arnold won 8-1, No. 3 Hunter Quintrell won 8-3, No. 4 Dean Mobley won 8-5, No. 5 Trent Tarrants won 8-1 and No. 6 Joel Florida won 8-2.
In doubles play, Frye and Arnold won 8-1, Quintrell and Florida won 8-2 and Mobley and Hunger Hoagland won 8-2.
WILLIAM CHRISMAN 9, RUSKIN 0: Chrisman didn’t have much trouble with Suburban Middle Six foe Ruskin as it rolled to a win Tuesday.
In singles play, No. 1 player Brett Wilson won 8-3, No. 2 Pierrick Gourlet won 8-1, No. 3 Shaun Anderson won 8-0, No. 4 Coltyn Weston won 9-7, No. 5 Rudy Acosta won 8-2 and No. 6 Sam Hawley won 8-1.
In doubles play, the No. 1 duo of Wilson and Jose Mendoza won 8-1, Anderson and Dakoda James won 8-0 and Hawley and Brandon Kuhlman won 8-5.
"I am so proud of all of my guys, but Brett's 30 singles wins are definitely not flashy or powerful. They are just cool,” Chrisman coach Jason Grubb said. “He plays smart, determined and fundamental. He is a great ambassador for Chrisman tennis and I'm so happy that he could reach this milestone prior to his Senior Night."
PARK HILL 6, BLUE SPRINGS 3: The Wildcats got wins from their No. 1 and 2 singles players, but it wasn’t enough in a Suburban Big Seven loss to the Trojans Monday.
No. 1 singles player Luke David won 10-6 and No. 2 Josh Gordon won 10-5. In doubles, Josh Gordon and David won 9-7.
On Monday, the Wildcats had a rough go of it against the Liberty North in a non-conference loss Tuesday.
No. 5 singles player Jay’Von McKinney came the closest to a win during a 10-8 loss.
