The Lee’s Summit North Broncos Broncos played the second game of a back-to-back and they struggled to maintain their energy level, according to North coach Ryan Kelley.
His team fell 3-2 in a non-conference game the Panthers Thursday.
The night before, North played into double overtime against Lee’s Summit.
North forward Kaylie Rock scored the first goal of the game to give her team the lead in the first half. The Panthers scored the next three goals before Cassidy Calvin score North’s final goal in the second half. After that, North had three goals that just missed going in down the stretch.
“We were not able to hold the lead and at the start of the second half we came out real flat and lacked energy to put the match away,” said Kalley, whose team fell to 7-10. Park Hill South pressured us and caused our backs to turn the ball over.”
On Wednesday, the Broncos earned a 2-1 victory over Lee’s Summit after winning the shootout 4-3.
Rock scored the team’s lone goal in regulation and Madilyn Robinson had the assist. Rock, Halle Hill, Cara Panarisi and Emma Willard made their penalty kicks during the shootout, while the Tigers missed a pair that sailed over the goal.
“We did not have our best overall performance of the season, but we played a tough match that showed our ability to make plays on both sides of the ball when necessary,” Kelley said.
PLEASANT HILL 10, VAN HORN 0: The Falcons fell to 9-11 on the season after a mercy-rule loss to the Chicks Friday.
