Blue Springs South’s Grant Williamson is in contention for an all-state honor after the first day of the Class 4 Missouri State High School Boys Golf Championships.
Williamson fired a 78 Monday in the first round on the par-72 Swope Memorial Golf Course. He is tied for 34th, just three strokes behind the current cutoff for all-state, which is the top 15 and ties.
Lee’s Summit North’s qualifiers, Michael Foster and Kohlin Hicks, were each within a shot of each other. Foster fired an 82 and is tied for 60th, while Hicks shot 83 and is tied for 63rd.
Zach Walsh of St. Louis Chaminade shot 67 to take a two-shot lead into today’s final round. Columbia Rock Bridge, led by Ross Steelman’s 69, shot 292 to take the team lead over Rockhurst (306) and Liam Coughlin (73).
