The Grain Valley girls soccer team had no trouble advancing to the Class 3 District 15 championship game, as it rolled to a 8-0 victory against Kansas City East.
The Eagles play Raytown South in the championship game at 6 p.m. today at home.
Rylan Childers paced the Eagles (21-3-1) with a hat trick and two assists. Kailey Boyer added two goals and an assist, Marissa Schmitt and Raena Childers each had a goal and an assist, Kailey Larson contributed a goal and Haley Hunter notched an assist.
Grain Valley goalkeeper Raegan Beeding recorded the shutout.
“Nobody got hurt, and we’re on to the next to next round, so all in all a good night,” Grain Valley coach Tyler Nichol said. “We would like to have a little more sharpness and energy to our play tomorrow.”
RAYTOWN SOUTH 5, VAN HORN 0: The Falcons’ season came to an end in a loss to the Cardinals Tuesday in the other semifinal at Moody Murry Field.
Van Horn finished the season with a 10-13 record.
