Football

• Denver Broncos defensive end Shane Ray and Rays Awareness Foundation to host second annual Youth Football Camp and Parent Seminar on June 2 at Bishop Miege High School (5041 Reinhardt Dr, Mission, KS 66205), 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp will also feature “Beyond the Field,” a workshop for parents available at noon. The camp will be broken down into two segments, one for ages 8-13 beginning at 7:15 a.m. and a more competitive older session for players 14-17 in the afternoon. Free to the public, the camp will provide all campers with lunch as well as camp T-shirts and the chance to win other prizes and giveaways. Horseshoes

• The Independence Horseshoe Club meets at McCoy Park (U.S. 24 and Spring Street) 7-9 p.m. Thursday evenings. Open to all ages and skill levels. Each thrower has a partner and pitches two 50-shoe games. All games are 90 percent handicap. Cost of a NHPA sanction card is $36 per year. League membership is $10 per year. Cadets (age 12 and younger) pitch at 20 feet); juniors (18 and younger), women and men age 70 and older at 30 feet; and all others at 40 feet.
