Jeremy Root had a big night to help the Lee’s Summit Outlaws to an American Legion baseball doubleheader sweep Tuesday.

Root totaled seven hits and eight RBIs to lead the Outlaws to 11-3 and 15-5 wins over the host Windsor Post 82 Titans.

Root totaled five hits and four RBIs in the 11-3 win. Leading 4-3 after four innings, the Outlaws pulled away with two runs in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Jarrett O’Shaughnessy went five innings to earn the win.

Root then had two hits and four RBIs in the 15-5 win. The Outlaws fell behind 4-0 after the top of the second inning, but scored four runs in the bottom of the second to tie it and then added five in the third and six in the fourth to end it after five innings on the mercy rule.

Justin Hopson added three hits and Trevor Key drove in two runs. Carter Bradford went three innings to earn the win.
